My interests in the strategic application of design extends beyond the digital world. The basis of human-centered design at the heart of UX applies to so many areas in need of fixing. In 2012 I started to explore the questions that fascinate me through writing and am engaging in human-centered design projects outside of the digital realm.
DoTank Fall 2015– I worked on a transdisciplinary team to explore waste reduction education, and produce a 1-day popup event in NYC.

Global Service Jam 2013, 2015 – Co-organized weekend-long service design primer and rapid prototyping workshop
GovJam 2013 – Co-organized weekend-long service design primer and rapid prototyping workshop geared towards the civic sector.
EffectiveUI Design Thinking Workshops – Assisted EffectiveUI EDU team in facilitating small groups in a day-long design thinking workshop
Lifehack Bootcamp – Completed 8 week course in workplace management techniques
+Acumen & IDEO.org Human Centered Design course – Completed 5-week course in human-centered design for social innovation
+Acumen & Cambridge Leadership Associates Adaptive Leadership course – Completed 4-week course in social leadership principles
Better Block Jefferson Park / Five Points – I volunteered for two Better Block projects in neighborhoods around Denver, CO. The Better Block project aims to reactivate neglected streets to make them more inclusive, and demonstrate the potential of investing in urban renewal.
I felt the desire to work with my hands again to reconnect with my artist roots. I’ve taken welding classes and worked out of a maker space to try my hand at furniture making. While I think I’ll stick to UX design, the process of working with metal was humbling. I’ve recently switched to the more apartment-friendly craft of bookmaking. This precise craft is yet another exercise in patience and is truly gratifying.
